Jenny Finch is perhaps the most famous female softball player in the world, as of 2011. Finch was a staple of the U.S. softball teams, helping the team to many victories. Not only did she become famous for her talents on the diamond, but she gained public attention for her beauty, which served to attract a legion of fans to the game of softball.Finch was born Sept. 30, 1980, in La Mirada, California, and began playing softball at the age of 5. Her first pitching coach was her father. Finch excelled at a number of sports from an early age, but her favorite was softball and soon her life became focused almost entirely on softball. She made her high school's varsity team as a freshman and helped the team win four straight league titles.Finch was a three time All-American pitcher and first basemen for the University of Arizona, where her number 27 jersey was retired. While at the University of Arizona, she also set an NCAA record for 60 consecutive pitching wins over the course of three seasons.Finch went on to win a gold medal on the 2004 USA Olympic softball team in Athens, Greece, and a silver medal in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Finch was named one of People Magazine's most beautiful people, and appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. She also appeared on a number of TV programs including "Celebrity Apprentice."Though the limelight was often on her, she was often described as a loyal player by teammates. She retired from softball in 2010. Finch is married to professional baseball player Casey Daigle. The couple first met at the 2002 ESPY awards. The two have a son named Ace.
